Supporting Rise Above Parkinsons Inc.

Rise Above Parkinsons Inc is a local, public 501c3 organization based in Trinity, Florida. It provides much-needed assistance to Florida’s Tampa Bay area residents living with Parkinson’s Disease.

In addition to the 90,000 people nationwide who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease each year, Florida has the highest percentage of people afflicted with Parkinson’s. The disease does not discriminate by age, race or gender.

Rise Above Parkinsons helps local Floridians battling Parkinson’s afford the medications, therapies, assistive devices, and more that can greatly improve quality of life, allowing them to live as safely and independently as possible. Their assistance provides much needed relief to both the patient and the patient’s loved ones.

The organization is 100 percent volunteer-run, so nearly every dollar goes directly to the Florida Parkinson’s community.

Thank you for joining us and supporting our mission.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

This tournament features men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles competition, each divided into 4 brackets based on age and skill. All brackets are limited to 8 teams maximum, divided into 2 pools of 4. Each pool will play the other teams in their pool round robin style, guaranteeing each team at least 3 matches. The top team in each pool will then challenge each other for Gold and Silver medals.

All games are played to 11 points, win by 1.

The official tournament ball is the Selkirk™ PRO S1 ball. We are grateful to Selkirk for their support.

BRACKETS:

Brackets are based on age and skill. Intermediate is skill level 3.0 - 3.9; Advanced is skill level 4.0+.

Each team must play at the skill level of the higher rated player and the age of the younger player. We will be using self-rating: PLEASE BE COURTEOUS TO OTHERS AND ACCURATELY RATE YOURSELF. Age is calculated as of 11/01/2024. No matches at this tournament will have referees. This tournament is not sanctioned by the USAPA.

Men’s Doubles (4 brackets): Intermediate age 18+, Intermediate age 60+; Advanced age 18+; Advanced age 60+

Women’s Doubles (4 brackets): Intermediate age 18+, Intermediate age 60+; Advanced age 18+; Advanced age 60+

Mixed Doubles (4 brackets): Intermediate age 18+, Intermediate age 60+; Advanced age 18+; Advanced age 60+

Please note: Tournament format and brackets are subject to change based on registrations and as necessary by the Tournament Director.

REGISTRATION

Tournament registration fee is $35 and each bracket is $15.

For example, a player who registers for women’s doubles only will pay $50, while one who registers for both women’s doubles and mixed doubles will pay $65.

All players will receive a tournament t-shirt (you must register by October 18 to receive a t-shirt) and a souvenir goodie bag.

Registration opens August 1 and concludes October 26. Registration and payment is online through pickleballden.com only; there will be no mail-in or in-person registration at the time of the tournament.

Players who register and pay but do not have a partner at the registration deadline will not be refunded.

Because of the tournament structure, there is a limit of 64 players per division (men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles), for a total of 192 player spots. Once those spots are filled, you may still register and be put on the waiting list. Waitlist players will not pay fees until they are moved into an active bracket.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

We understand that things come up and injuries can and do happen. To that end, if you must withdraw, please contact the tournament director as soon as possible at [email protected].

If you withdraw prior to October 26, you may choose to donate your registration fee or receive a refund minus a $10 cancellation fee.

This $10 helps us cover the costs and fees associated with payment processing and use of the PickleballDen Software, while carrying out our mission to serve the local Parkinson’s community.

If you have a partner that needs to withdraw, you may find a sub at a suitable level and age for the tournament. Inform the tournament director of your substitute so that they can be properly registered.

If you are on the waitlist and you wish to cancel, we will simply remove you from the wait list. (You do not get charged until you are moved off the waitlist into the event.)

No refunds for any reason after the cancellation deadline above.
